Let’s say you wanted to set up a trigger in ServiceDesk Plus Cloud that could update a custom field in your asset module based on the values in the other asset fields. Out-of-the-box ServiceDesk Plus Cloud will allow you to set up triggers for their modules, however to update an asset field you will need to set up a custom function. That’s where Deluge scripting comes into play.

Deluge is Zoho’s scripting language, which is used in a variety of ManageEngine applications, including ServiceDesk Plus Cloud. We are able to create a simple custom function to update the value of a custom asset field based on the value of other asset fields, using Deluge and the inbuilt syntax assist feature.

Once the script is in, we can use the save & execute feature in ServiceDesk Plus Cloud to test it.

After testing the function and making sure it works, we can now implement it in a custom trigger and set our criteria for when the function should execute.

We now have configured a trigger to update the asset field value when another field in the asset field has been edited.
